At Greenfield International School, creativity came alive during this year’s Week Without Walls, hosted by Ignite. The annual event is designed to give students hands-on learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom, and this year’s photography programme was an inspiring success.

More than 20 enthusiastic students signed up to explore the basics of photography over the course of an exciting and educational week. From understanding camera settings and composition to experimenting with lighting and perspective, the children were introduced to essential skills that form the foundation of great photography. They quickly learned that photography is not just about taking pictures, but about telling stories and capturing moments in meaningful ways.

One of the highlights of the week was a field trip to Al Bastakiya, one of Dubai’s most historic districts. Surrounded by traditional wind towers, narrow alleyways, and beautifully restored heritage buildings, students had the opportunity to photograph the charm of old Dubai. The trip allowed them to practise their new skills in a real-world setting, focusing on texture, architecture, shadows, and candid street scenes. It was a wonderful chance for them to see how history and culture can be captured through a lens.

At the end of the week, the students proudly showcased their work in a special presentation for the school community. Each participant selected their favourite photographs and shared what they had learned throughout the programme. The exhibition highlighted not only their technical progress but also their growing confidence and creativity.

Week Without Walls once again proved to be a valuable and memorable experience, inspiring young photographers to see the world from new perspectives.
