Ignite Schools Workshop Powered By Canon @ Gems Wellington, Al Khail, Dubai

Over two exciting days, the team from Ignite visited Wellington School to run hands-on photography workshops with Year 7 students. More than 180 pupils had the chance to pick up a Canon DSLR camera and explore the world of photography through engaging, one-hour mini sessions.

The focus of the workshops was the creative use of light and shade, encouraging students to look at their everyday surroundings from a new perspective. Guided by the Ignite team, the pupils experimented with camera settings, framing techniques, and artistic expression – many picking up a DSLR for the very first time.

Despite the short sessions, the enthusiasm and energy from the students were clear to see. They embraced the challenge, capturing thoughtful, imaginative images that showcased a growing confidence behind the lens.

The photographs taken during the workshops will be used as part of the students’ schoolwork, providing valuable evidence of their learning and creativity. It’s a fantastic opportunity to blend artistic skills with curriculum goals, all while having fun.
