Ignite Classroom Activity “Working With Light” Powered By Canon

gnite recently hosted its second classroom workshop of the academic year, and this time the focus was on an exciting and creative theme — working with light.

The workshop gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore how light affects photography and how different light sources can completely change the mood and quality of an image. Throughout the session, students learned how to use a range of lighting techniques to achieve the correct exposure. From adjusting brightness levels to understanding shadows and highlights, they developed practical skills that will help them grow in confidence behind the camera.

Inside the classroom, we experimented with various artificial light sources. Students discovered how positioning, direction, and intensity can influence the final result. They practiced adjusting camera settings to balance light properly, ensuring their images were neither too dark nor overexposed. It was fantastic to see them experimenting, problem-solving, and supporting one another as they refined their shots.

Outside of the classroom, we made the most of natural light — especially the sun — to capture some beautiful portraits. The students quickly learned how to work with sunlight, considering angles and timing to create softer, more flattering effects. The outdoor session allowed them to apply everything they had learned indoors in a real-world setting, which made the experience even more valuable.

Most importantly, the children had a fantastic time. The energy, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout the day were wonderful to see. Workshops like this not only build technical skills but also encourage teamwork, imagination, and confidence.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who attended and look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their photography skills in future sessions.
