Introduction: In a world where images are everywhere, nurturing the art of photography in young minds is an endeavor we hold dear. At Durham School in Dubai, we had the pleasure of conducting a vibrant and engaging photography workshop for year 7 and 8 students. Powered by Canon, this workshop was all about empowering around 30 young talents with the skills to tell stories through their lenses.

Through the Canon Lens: Each student had the opportunity to experience photography through the lens of their own Canon camera. With Canon’s quality equipment in hand, they learned to handle, focus, and capture moments in time.

Exploring Fruit and Faces: Our young photographers embarked on a visual journey, capturing two very different subjects – fruit and people. It was amazing to see how they used their creative eyes to transform everyday objects and human expressions into works of art.

Hands-On Learning: This workshop was all about hands-on learning. With guidance from our experienced instructors, students practiced different techniques and discovered how to use light, angles, and composition to enhance their photography.

Printing Their Masterpieces: One of the highlights of the day was when students got to see their work in print. Each student carefully selected their favorite photos to print and take home. These printed photographs will serve as a reminder of the creative potential they unlocked during the workshop and a source of inspiration for future projects.

Encouraging Creativity: Beyond photography skills, our aim was to encourage creativity and boost confidence in each child. Photography isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about telling stories and expressing emotions.
